Charlotte Goins Shelton, 69, left this world on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016.

She was born the 13th child of 15 children on April 12, 1946, to William "Bill" and Mary Ellen Sanders Goins.

She and her husband operated Rogers Creek Grocery Store for many years, as well as building chair frames for many years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Annabel Millsaps, Lena Anderson, Laverne Duncan, Lynn Newman, Imogene Ghorley and Sophia Vaughn; and brothers, James Goins, Steve Goins, Pete Goins and Arvil Goins.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, John Henry Shelton of Athens; daughters and son-in-law, Debbie and Leon Crain of Athens, Linda McKenzie of Decatur, and Joyce Ann Shelton of Athens; son, John David Shelton and fiancee, Tommie Scoggins, of Birchwood; grandchildren, Brandy Whitener and fiance, Joey Lenker, Jonathan Crain, William and Carol Crain, Chris McKenzie and fiancee, Robbin Burton, James McKenzie and fiancee, Jamey Moses, Tyler Shelton, and Jamie and Jessica Shelton; great-granchildren, Jocelyn Jaylee, Brantley, Bentley, LeAnn and Nevaeh; sisters and brothers-in-law, Molly and Clyde Shelton, Dorcas Ratledge,
Ruth Stephens and Bobby and Hazel Collins, all of Athens; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Homer and Joyce Shelton of Athens and Clifford (Bud) and Sue Harris of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Home Health Care of EastTenessee.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs

Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Lewis, the Rev. Gary Rolen and the Rev. Jeff Shelton officiating.

The burial will be at Short Creek Cemetery following the service on Wednesday.

The pallbearers will be grandsons and Randy McKenzie.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the funeral home.
