Keith L. Haynes, 64, of Van Meter died of lung cancer Tuesday at home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kuhn Funeral Home in Dexter, with burial at Dexter Cemetery.

Mr. Haynes was born March 26, 1938, in Dexter, the son of Milton Earl "Mike" Haynes and Mable Louise (Dwinell) Haynes. In January, 1960 he married Portia Hass in Denison. He had lived in Dexter, Earlham, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Collins before moving to Van Meter 1 1/2 years ago. He was a retired welder with 3E of Des Moines, an Army and Air Force veteran and a member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by five sons, Bill of Olympia, Wash., Noel of Redbank, Tenn., Cameron of Hixon, Tenn., Brent of Van Meter and Kollin of Elizabethtown, Pa.; three daughters, Rise Drake of DeSoto, Lerynne West of Dexter and Gillian Gillespie of Van Meter; a brother, Kenny of Dexter; a sister Donna Moro of Waukee; 12 grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
