An educator for more than 40 years, she taught elementary school in Westville, Old Forge and West Albany, prior to joining the Albany Public School System. She retired in June of 1972 as a reading consultant in the Albany School District where she spent most of her career. Working in partnership with the College of St. Rose, Bernadeen served as a master teacher, assisting in the development of student teachers. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teacher's Association, the Albany Area Retired Teacher's Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. Bernadeen enjoyed dress making, home decorating and flower gardening
