O'Quinn to Freeman Per Virginia Poole:

"Born in 1856 as Robert D. O'Quinn to James and Mary Freeman O'Quinn. In about 1883 in Faulkner Co., AR, Robert O'Quinn killed a man. He hid out in an old unused barn. Robert's brothers brought food to him. After planning a getaway the brothers, brought Robert's young pregnant wife, his two young sons and a wagon to Robert. The then O'Quinn family fled in the wagon, crossing the Saline River in Arkansas on their way to Texas. About the same time they were fleeing a family drowned in the river. Near Hope, Arkansas, Robert's third son, Arthur was born. When arriving in Texas the family settle in Hopkins County. Robert became Calvin and took his mother's maiden name, Freeman, as his own. Calvin and his wife Laura Annie never returned to Arkansas. In 1885 Floyd Edward Freeman, was the first of nine more children to be born in Texas. Calvin and Annie had a total of 13 children, 12 lived to adulthood."

Robert Duncan O'Quinn became Calvin Nathaniel Freeman, and he, Laura Ann, Dossie Elmer and their children born after 1880 are on the 1900 Sulphur Springs, Hopkins Co., TX census.
