HERRIN - James Patrick "Pat" Marlow, 62, passed away at 4:56 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, in Herrin Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 1, 1953, in Herrin, to James and LaDonna (Craig) Marlow. He married his wife, Charline, on April 12, 1980. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was previously employed at Southern Beverage Co., in Herrin, which his family owned and operated. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Charline, of Herrin; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jared Conner and their daughter, Hayley; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Gregory Sims and their children, Kaitlyn, Julianne, and baby Archer; one sister, Susan Kim Nosek-Shea; niece, Tisha Kosco and nephew, Justin Nosek; aunts, Josephine Marlow and Phyllis Marlow; several cousins and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved cousins, Christopher Marlow and Gregory Marlow. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. His passion in life was spending time with his grandchildren. He also liked the outdoors and working with wood. Pat never met a stranger. He was a kind, gentle, patient man who was also generous, humble, genuine and a very loving soul. He was hardworking and fun-loving. He will be missed by so many and never forgotten. Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 8, in Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin, with Msgr. Ken Schaefer officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. The family prefers memorial donations made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
