WILLIAM MELVILLE PAUL
One of Almonte's highly respected citizens, William Melville Paul, passed away in hospital May 10, 1971, after a short illness.
He was born November 3rd, 1895, the son of the late William Paul and his wife, the late Christena Porterfield. He was married in December 1919 to Eva Jane Drummond, who predeceased him in March, 1947.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Louis Parent), St. Jean, Quebec; Doris (Mrs. Harvey Cochran), Willowdale; two sons, William D. (Bill), Ottawa and R. Clare of Port Credit; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Olive (Mrs. Albert Naismith), of Ramsay, and Edna (Mrs. Ed Rose) of Almonte.
The service was conducted from the Kerry Funeral Home by Rev. Robert McCrea of Almonte United Church, May 13 at 2 o'clock. Interment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery.
The pallbearers were William Toop, Jack Virgin, James Paul, Robert Naismith, Mervin Giles and Donald Cochran.

Enlisted as a Gunner, Service Number 3321632 in the 2nd Depot Battalion, Eastern Ontario Regiment, Canadian Expeditionary Force in Ottawa, Ontario on 6 May 1918. He served in Canada and was discharged from the service by reason of demobilization on 9 Dec 1918 in Kingston, Ontario. [Contributed by: Anonymous (#48932897)]
