Josephine Huston, daughter of Bloom and Sarah Ann Huston, was born in Lawrence County, Indiana on the twenty-seventh day of May, 1848, and died at her home in Madison county, Iowa on January 20, 1935. She was 86 years, 7 months and 24 days old at the time of her death. She came to Iowa with her parents when she was seven months with her parents on a farm in Dallas county where she lived until she was married to Newton Lane on October 15, 1865. Mr. and Mrs. Lane lived in Dallas county until they moved to Madison county in 1883.

To them were born six children: Alice Hiatt of Valley Junction; Anna Jamison of Redfield; Roy Lane and Mrs. Elva Allen of Booneville, and two children, George and Mary who died in childhood. She also leaves twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Jane Brittan of Wichita, Kansas, and Mrs. Martha Crawford of Winterset; and three brothers, Taylor Huston of Valley Junction; John Huston of Perry and Fremont Huston of Winfield, Kansas. The husband preceded her in death March 26, 1917.
