Joseph N. Hurst, 66, of Harrisburg, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016, at his home.

He was born March 29, 1949; he was the son of the late Norman E. and Elizabeth (Dempsey) Hurst.

He is survived by 6 brothers, Harry (Wanda), Peter (Sue), Edward, George (Mary), Donald (Cheryl), and Thomas (Chassitty) Hurst; 8 nephews; 8 nieces; 7 grand-nephews and 7 grand-nieces.

Joe was a retired employee from the Naval Supply Depot, with over 30 years of service, and a US Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was a recipient of 3 Purple Hearts.

He was a lifelong member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, the Rutherford VFW Post 1213, and a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School, class of 1967.

A viewing will be held at 10:00 AM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 9, 2016, at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg.

Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church.
