Jimmy Earl Sutton, 62, of 511 Park Avenue, passed away at his home Monday, January 4, 2016.

A memorial service will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, January 10, 2016 at his cherished farm at 2081 Basstown Road. His longtime friend, Pastor Bobby Oliver will officiate the service

Jimmy was born in 1953 in Wayne County to the late David Earl Sutton and Ruby Gore Sutton. He served in the US Coast Guard. He owned several businesses in Sampson and Wayne County. He enjoyed building, organic farming, researching renewable energy sources and found contentment in simplicity of life. Jimmy attended Colonial Heights Freewill Baptist Church and was a man of great faith and belief.

He is survived by his sister, Margaret Sutton Hamilton (Johnny) of Clinton; brother, David Sutton (Kimberly) of Wilmington; four nieces and one nephew; and a host of friends and family.

The family request in lieu of flowers; plant a flower, a tree, a vegetable garden or enjoy a good meal with him in mind. Bring food for our local food banks or coats for the homeless to the memorial service if you have the need to give. Collections will be donated in Jimmy's memory.
