Thomas G. Dew, 83, of 1449 45th Ave., Rock Island, died Saturday at Comfort Harbor Nursing Home in Milan.
Private funeral services will be held tomorrow at the Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. There will be no visitation. The body will be cremated at Fairmount Crematorium in Davenport.
Mr. Dew was born in Forest, Ont., Canadfa, Sept. 27, 1888. He received his education in Canada and married Laura Fox in Chicago. He served with the Canadian army in World War I.
Mr. Dew moved to the Unites States in 1920, coming to Flint, Mich. He went to Farina, Ill., in 1937. He published the Farina News before retiring in 1955. He had lived in Rock Island since 1956.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Donna) Kohrs, rock Island, with whom he made his home; five grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Simms, St. Petersburg, Fla.
His wife and two brothers preceded him in death.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
