Gail Dennis Robertson BS, MS, RN,CNM, APN, transitioned peacefully at the vibrant young age of 66 on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at her home in Chicago, Illinois surrounded by family. She was born in Washington DC, on November 18, 1949 to Benjamin Franklin Dennis and the late Mary Fordham Dennis. She met her husband Bernard while in college. They were married shortly thereafter and remained friends, companions, and soul mates for over 45 years. She will remain surrounded in love by her two devoted sons Tshaka Ben and his partner Nancy, Sekou Marcus and his wife Stacy, her three beloved grandchildren Selah, Joshua, and Sydney, her cherished father Benjamin F. Dennis, her devoted stepmother Anni Schmied Dennis and stepsister Anita M. Schmied with her husband Gary S. Medovich and her dearest brother Michael Fordham Dennis. Gail pursued and achieved multiple advanced degrees from Prince George's Community College, Morgan State University, Medical College of Georgia, and Georgetown University. She was an accomplished Certified Nurse Midwife practicing for over 20 years and bringing thousands of babies into the world. Her core values were Family First, Ancestral Guidance, Africa as the Cradle of Civilization, Cultural Pride, Travel and Giving, a virtue that demonstrated the depth of her humanity. Gail was a very spiritual being. She always looked to the people that came before her for guidance. A cremation service was held Monday, December 21, 2015 at The Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago.
