Sonny Porter, age 75, of Fort Chiswell, VA passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at his home. He was born March 31, 1940 in Gilliam, WV to Marvin and Ruby Porter. Sonny was the founding member of the “Midnight Riders.” He is survived by his loving and devoted son Teddy Porter and wife Tammy of Fort Chiswell, son Nelson Porter, Sr. of Ormond Beach, FL; granddaughter, Kelley Porter; grandsons, Teddy Porter, Travis Porter, Tyler Porter, Nelson Porter, Jr., Stephen Porter; special great grandson Trevor “Boo Boo” Porter. He is also survived by four other great grandchildren; a special sister and brother-in-law Marvareen and Ernest Fulcher of Christiansburg, VA, sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Wayne King of Chesterfield, VA and a special brother-in-law Norman Fortner of Max Meadows, VA; also his special buddy “Twinkie” the cat who was his baby. He is also survived by many other family and friends. In keeping with Sonny’s wishes, services will be private. The family asked that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Sonny to a charity of choice. Reese Funeral Home, Austinville, VA is serving the Porter family.
