Charles (Charlie) T. Dooley age 78, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Waccamaw Community Hospital, Murrells Inlet, SC.
Born in Washington, DC he was the son of the late Charles and Dolly Dooley of Knoxville, TN. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dooley was preceded in death by his sister, Ann D. Coykendall.
Mr. Dooley graduated from University of Tennessee in 1960 and entered into a long and prestigious career with the Central Intelligence Agency. Charlie spent many years abroad, including Thailand, Panama and Vietnam and received numerous awards including Exceptional Service for Performance Under Conditions of Hazard or Hardship from the agency. Charlie was an active member of C.I.R.A. during his retirement. An avid reader, Charlie also enjoyed many activities including golf and watching both The Redskins and UT football games. Mr. Dooley volunteered many years with The Grand Strand Miracle League.
Services will be held in memory of Charlie Dooley at 3:00 pm Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville, TN.
