Jon Phillip Cooper, 76, died Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at a family residence.
Mr. Cooper was born November 28, 1939, in the Piney Forest community near Andrews, a son of the late Marvin Ranson Cooper and the late Eula Mae McGee Cooper.
He grew up in the Suttons community of Williamsburg County and graduated from Williamsburg High School. He was a member of Trio United Methodist Church since the age of sixteen. He retired from International Paper Co in Georgetown in 1997, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
He was survived by his wife, Brenda Morris Cooper of Andrews; three sons, Marvin Derrell Cooper (Kim) of Georgetown, and John Phillip Cooper II and Jason Morris Cooper (Nancy), both of Andrews; two brothers, Lloyd Cooper (Libby) and Kenneth Cooper (Patty); four sisters, Barbara Ann Gathright (John Byron), Sonya Rusgrove (Jim), Judy Moore (John) and Debbie McConnell (Kenny); ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, January 9, 2016, in Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Rev. Dean Baber and the Rev. Terry L. Wilkerson officiated. Burial by the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home followed in Suttons United Methodist Cemetery.
