Carl J. Lunger, 95, a life-long resident of Thomas St. in Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at The Phillipsburg Center. Carl was born in Phillipsburg, NJ on October 29, 1920 to the late John and Goldie Beers Lunger.
Carl was a clerk with Ingersoll-Rand of Phillipsburg for 35 years, retiring in 1983. Carl was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School and attended Churchman's Business School of Easton, PA. He served in the US Army as a Corporal during WWII from 1942 to 1945. Carl was a member of First United Church of Christ in Easton, PA where he was a member of the choir for over 45 years. He was a member of Phillipsburg Lodge #52 F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest #14, American Legion Mecsey Bishop Post #456 of Stewartsville, NJ, was a member of 40/8 Voiture No. 650 and Past Grand Chef de Gare of the State of New Jersey.
Carl is survived by his son, Brian Lunger, his wife Jackie and their daughter Melissa of Phillipsburg; daughter, Carol A. Glosser, her husband Bill and their children Tracy and Billie Jean of Mountain Lake, NJ; daughter-in-law, Sue Lunger and her children Stephen Lunger and Julie Hoya and her husband John of Garden Grove, CA; granddaughter, Chrystie Groff and her husband, Mike; 5 great grandchildren. Carl was predeceased by his wife, Ethel G. Rush Lunger; sons, Robin J. Lunger and Neil J. Lunger; daughter-in-law, Judy A. Lunger; and two infant grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Carl will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 11am at the Rupell Funeral Home, LLC; 465 Memorial Pkwy; Phillipsburg, NJ 08865. A visitation of family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine; Palmer Township, PA.
