George was a founding member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Assumption Council 4473, an avid U of L Cards fan, and he loved to travel. He graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. George also was a World War II Army Veteran who served in the European Theater. He worked as a Plant Controller for 31 years for Reynolds Metals before retiring and for Churchill Downs as a Pari-Mutuel Clerk.
George was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry, Marion, Bert and John Worland; and his sisters, Virginia Bisig, Chris Winslow, Anna Littrell and Helen Loew.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret Brown Worland; daughters, Peggy Pieper (Lee), Charlotte W. Shekell (Jeff), Mary Sue Brown (Greg); son, David G. Worland (Ann); sisters, Mary Lou Thompson and Jean Worland; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church; 3521 Goldsmith Lane, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
