Sylvia H. Ford, 91, died Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, January 8, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Fort Valley, 209 South Miller Street in Fort Valley with Rev. Ed McQueen officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Rooks Funeral Home, 213 West Church Street in Fort Valley.
Born in Scott, GA, to the late Daniel Gideon Smith and Nettie Curtis Smith, Mrs. Ford was a homemaker, and a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Valley and the Lydia Sunday School Class. Her family will remember her as a “sweet, sweet Mama”.
Survivors include her children, Sandra Shiver of East Dublin, Cliff and Ann Ford of Fort Valley, and Debra Ford of Monticello, New York; grandchildren, Wes Shiver, Cami Shiver, Lee Shiver, Jason Ford, Jennifer and J.J. Cullens, Jessi and Jeremy Timmerman, Amy and Russell Burns, Kyle Montgomery, Nancy and Mike Sweeney, Rachel and Cory Rapraeger, and Ben and Ashley Ford; 13 great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mark C. Ford Jr., son, Luke Ford, daughter in law, Nellie Conner Ford, grandson, Jacob Ford, and a great great granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, donations to “Together We Grow”, c/o First Baptist Church, 209 S. Miller St., Fort Valley, GA 31030. Rooks Funeral Home of Fort Valley is in charge of arrangements.
