Miss Julia W Bridger was born at Troy, Rensselaer county, New York, Nov. 30th, 1827. She was the third child of Henry & Elizabeth Bridger, who founded Bridger's Corners which still bears the name, although the post office is called Suez. The country at that time being wild and unsettled, the subject of the obituary passed through all the trials and experiences of the pioneer settler. From then to the time of her death she has remained in the family a comforting and faithful helper. Being of a kind, gentle and generous disposition she made many fiends, who, when in the future they visit the old homestead, will not be greeted by the cheerful voice of Aunt Julia. In times of sickness it was always her desire to lend a helping hand and endeavor to soothe the pain of the suffering. She could always speak a word of comfort to the bereaved. No one in the neighborhood was better known and respected. Although the neighborhood will miss her, none can suffer the loss so keenly as the two brothers, who are left. There is a chord of love and affection that has bound them together that is now broken, that the comforting words of dear friends and relatives cannot replace. However kind and willing none can be to them what she has been. Her health has generally been of the best but the hour of suffering and sorrow must inevitably come, and when it did come to her it was borne with calmness and fortitude that won the love and admiration of all. She was prepared for death, saying to friends that it was preferable to long and intense pain. The past winter she has been in poor health but was taken much worse about two weeks ago and rapidly grew weaker till she passed away Wednesday, April 4th. at 6 o'clock p.m., aged 66 years 4 months 4 days. She leaves 4 brothers; Wm. H and Jay C., who still reside at the old home; Henry T., who lives at Suez, and Philip T., who resides in Mendon, Chariton Co., Missouri. Two sisters survive her; Mrs. Anna E Page and Mrs. Dan W Sedwick. The funeral services were held at the famly residence Friday, April 6, at 11 a.m., Rev. Renwick officiating, after which the remains were bourn to the family cemetery, followed by a large concourse of friends and relatives. The bereaved ones have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in this , their sad bereavement.
