Mark Alexander Holt, 89, of Holland, died Monday, December 28, 2015, in a local care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home Rev. Judy Gotcher officiating. Burial will follow in North Belton Cemetery.

Mark was born in Houston County, Texas, to the late Albert Alton Holt and Willie Adell Morgan Holt. He graduated from Trent High School in 1946. He attended Abilene McMurry College, Kingsville Texas A & I and Hardin Simmons University. Mark had a love of the land when he started farming at an early age. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He taught school in the Point Isabel ISD in Port Isabel, Texas for 27 years retiring in 1992. Mark was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and a member of American Legion.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothae Bishop; and a brother, Horace Alton Holt.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Ruth Sanders Holt, of Holland; son, Ryan Mason Holt and wife, Maddi, of the U.S. Army; stepsons, Vernon Wayne Wooddell and Henry Samuel Wooddell and wife, Traci; stepdaughter, Anna Lois Patterson and husband, Bob, all of Temple; six grandchildren; sisters, Catherine Bishop, of Trent, and Jewel Henager, of Robinson; other relatives and many friends.
