Johnny Gordon Sr., 91, of Crosby, died Dec. 13, 2007, at his home. Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sweet Home Church in Rosetta, with the Rev. Frank Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Nebo CME Church cemetery in Crosby, with Anderson Funeral Home of Gloster officiating.
Mr. Gordon was born Oct. 3, 1916, in Mississippi to Willie and Ethel Gordon .
He was a longtime truck driver and a buffalo soldier, serving in World War II.
Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geneva B. Gordon ; a sister, Beatrice Williams; and a brother, Thaddeous Gordon .
Survivors include four sons, Johnny Ray Gordon Jr. of Gloster, Robert Venson Gordon of Meadville, and Jerry Lee and Phillip Gordon , both of Crosby; four daughters, Lula Mae Gordon and Patricia A. Faust, both of Crosby, Barbara A. Gordon of Woodville and Pamela Gordon of Ferriday, La.; 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
