Mr. Herbert Bradshaw, Jr., 85, of Dover's Bluff, Georgia died Saturday evening at Sears Manor in Brunswick, Georgia after an extended illness. He was born in Macon, Georgia to Herbert Bradshaw, Sr., and Wilhelmina Bond Brandshaw.

Raised in Waycross, Georgia, he graduated from Waycross High School in 1947. He then went on to graduate from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1951 where he pitched for the Georgia Tech baseball team for four years. After graduating from Georgia Tech, Mr. Bradshaw enlisted in the United States Army. After his active duty service he enlisted in Army Reserves where he attained the rank of Major.

He married his high school sweetheart, Cecelia Voigt, in 1952. After the death of his father, he owned and operated Bradshaw's Appliance Store in Waycross for the next forty-six years. Shortly after his retirement from Bradshaw's he and his wife moved to Dover's Bluff, Georgia in Camden County.

Mr. Bradshaw was an avid sports fan, especially Georgia Tech Football, Baseball and Atlanta Braves Baseball. He enjoyed fishing at the Bluff and playing bridge. He became a certified duplicate bridge director and became very active in the Golden Isles Duplicate Bridge Club. He was a silver life master certified director and served as the club's manager for ten years. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Waycross.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Cecelia Bradshaw of Waverly, Georgia, his daughter, Becky Dougherty of St. Augustine, Florida, his son, Bob Bradshaw of Waverly, Georgia, three grandchildren, Erin Dougherty, Kristin Dougherty, Ethan Dougherty and his wife Jacqueline, three great grandchildren, Jareb Dougherty, Isaac Dougherty, Liam Dougherty, his cousins, Bettye Milton Taylor of Arlington, Virginia, Peggie Milton Hopkins and her husband Charles of Tallahassee, Florida, Wilhelmina Milton Jenkins and his wife Bert of Amelia Island, Florida, Don Bond and his wife Beverlyn of Reynolds, Georgia, Barbara Robinson and her husband Bill of Dunwoody, Georgia, three brothers-in-law, Fred Voigt and his wife Ann of Waverly, Georgia, Harold Voigt and his wife Ellen of Waverly, Georgia, John Voigt and his wife Judy of Lake Hartwell, Georgia, a cousin, Harold Hardy of Jacksonville, Florida, and numerous other relatives.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Herbert Bradshaw will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday at First Baptist Church in Waycross. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Waycross, 702 Elizabeth Street, Waycross, Georgia 31501, Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Georgia 31525, or to a charity of your choice.
