Leonard R. Watson, 90, of Bascom, passed away December 30, 2015 at his residence. Leonard was born on June 15, 1925 in Kansas, OH, to the late Wendell E. and Oleta (Bockey) Watson. He married Dorothy (Kline) on September 21, 1946 in Maysville, KY and she survives. Survivors include his son, Dave (Mary) Watson of Tiffin, two daughters, Karen (Charles) Popenberg of Alvada and Candy Mustamaa of Tiffin, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a brother, Harold Watson of Fostoria, two sisters, Beryl Knott of Lebanon and Jane Watson of Fostoria. Leonard worked at ExCello Corp. and later retired from Textron Corp. He was a member of the Bascom United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Bascom Lions Club, a Hopewell Township Trustee, the Sandridge Cemetery Board of Trustees, the Bascom Fire Department Board the Bascom Telephone Board of Trustees and was a United States Navy Veteran serving during WWII. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Edward Watson, a brother, James Watson and a grandson, Nicholas Watson. Funeral services for Leonard will be held at 12:00 p.m., January 4, 2016, at the Bascom United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cal Cook officiating. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until noon, at the church. Burial will be held at Sandridge cemetery in Bascom with military rites being rendered by the United Veterans Council at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Bascom United Methodist Church, Bascom Lions Club or the Sandridge cemetery.
