NICKERSON – Carrol E. Crawford, 82, died Jan. 3, 2016, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor, Sterling. He was born April 29, 1933, in Cameron, Okla., the son of Rolla and Zora (Wilkes) Crawford. A resident of Nickerson since 1982, moving from Sterling, he retired from Carey Salt as a supervisor after 38 years. He also worked for the United States Postal Service for 13 years, as a rural mail carrier in Sterling.
He was a member of Sterling Country Club, Sterling. He served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954.
On Feb. 4, 1993, he married Dorothy Jean (Pickett)Payne Evans in Sterling. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Richard, Bill, Rolla Jr. and Jim; and two sisters, Graceva and Wanda Trembly.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling, with Pastor Michael Gray presiding. Burial will be in Sterling Community Cemetery, with military honors by the Navy Honor Guard. Memorials to the Sterling Country Club, in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
