Son of George W. Allender and Mary, he co- owned and operated a grist and saw mill on the Shavers Fork of the Cheat River in a small communtiy called Petitt, he also helped to build the Irons Chapel Church located on Pleasant Run, in 1898, and still in use today, shown in photo with grandaughter Georgia Shoemaker Swisher
