On the 5th of December, 2015 Boyd passed away at Clyde Cosper Veterans Home in Bonham, Texas. Boyd had been a resident of Clyde W. Cosper State Veterans Home since July, 2013. He was 93 years old.
Boyd was born in Groesbeck, Texas on May 29, 1922 to Ben and Hattie Capps Atkinson of Houston. He graduated from Reagan High School in Houston in 1940 and joined the Navy Seabees from 1941-1945 during WWII. In 1941 Boyd married Shirley Cico of Angleton where the couple lived for 63 years of marriage. Boyd lived in Angleton until 2013.
Boyd worked for Sears, Roebuck & Company and for Pipefitters U.A. Local 211. He was a member of the Church of Christ on Wilkins, the Lone Star Caravan Camping Club and the Lions Club. His major hobbies included Ham Radio and traveling around the country in the family RV to visit relatives and friends.
Boyd was preceded in death by his wife Shirley; his sisters, Elizabeth and Edna and his brother John of Houston. Boyd is survived by his daughters, Patrycia Peters of Dallas and Sandra Bidlack of Newport, Rhode Island. 3-Grandchildren; Kerry Bidlack of Carbondale, Colorado, Alison Bidlack and Donald Bidlack of Newport. 2 great-grandsons; Dylan & Ryan Ferreira of Carbondale. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday December 10, 2015 at Wilkins Street Church of Christ with Leland Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow in the Angleton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans Administration.
