Lillie C. (Tafoya) García, was called to her heavenly home by her Lord Jesus on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at the age of 92.
Lillie was a resident of Corrales, NM, formerly of Alameda, NM.
Lillie was devoted to her Lord Jesus and thanked Him everyday for all her blessings. Lillie and her husband, Ernest were past Mayordomos of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where she was a member and officer of the Alter and Rosary Society, as well as being a member of the Faith Communities, she help cook for all the church fiestas and events.
Lillie enjoyed quilting, and lovingly would make quilts for all her children and grandchildren, until she couldn't no more. Lillie was an excellent cook, especially when preparing her family's traditional favorites, biscochitos, posole, chile reanillos and empanaditas. Lillie had a wonderful memory and remembered all her children's, neighbors and friends birthdays.
Lillie was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ernest García, son, Albert James García, grandsons, Joseph García and Albert García, her parents, Abundio and Manuelita Tafoya, brother, Benny Tafoya and sister, Clarita García.
Lillie is survived by her loving children, Ernest F. García (Dolores), Rudy T. García (Verna), Patricia C. Martínez (Richard) and Barbara J. Baca (Dr. Mario LM), daughter-in-law, Julie García, she was blessed with 15 grandchildren, Debbie Orwat, Shari Turner, Christopher García, Rudy John García, Angelia Yocum, Matthew García, Kathleen García, Bill Martínez, April Edwards, Kimberly Baca-Isaak, Mario and Marisol Baca, Caroline Vecchio, Katrina Christenson and Kassandra Hunt, 13 great-grandchildren, Sara Orwat, Thomas and Emily Turner, Bianca, Zachary and Eric García, Lilly Gallegos, Simon and Alex Isaak, Amalie Vecchio, Lucia, Daniel Hunt, and Emma Baca and one great-great-grandson, Jaxon Turner. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Julia Tafoya, prima hermana, Vicky Saiz, nieces, Esther Barela and Dolores García, nephews, Paul Tafoya and Lawrence Tafoya.

Visitations will be on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at San Ysidro Catholic Church in Corrales, NM, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Final Viewing will be on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will take place on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM. Casket Bearers will be Rudy John García, Matthew García, Bill Martínez, Christopher García, Mario Baca and Jason Isaak. Honorary Bearers will be Lawrence and Paul Tafoya, Steven Turner and Keith Orwat.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 Fourth St. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114.
