HIGH POINT - J. Van Cashatt, 72, of 103 Asbill Ave. died Wednesday at Wesleyan Arms Nursing Center after a period of declining health.

Funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Zion united Church of Christ. near Thomasville, where he was a member. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

He was a native of Guilford County, a former Sunday school teacher and superintendent, a former
church deacon and elder, president of the Men's Brotherhood, and a member of the church choir and men's chorus. He was retired from American of High Point.

Surviving are wife, Mrs. Louise Cashatt; stepsons, R. Wayne Mabe of High Point, David Mabe of High Point, Raymond Mabe of Richmond, VA.; brothers, Marvin, Richard, Calvin and Harrison Cashatt of High Point; sister, Mrs. Jasper Thorngate of Asheboro; five stepgrand-children.

The family will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, 7-8:30 p.m. today, other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the church or to the Christian Children's Fund Inc., P.O. Box 265111, Richmond, VA. 23261.
