NEW PALESTINE – Leslie V. Phelps, age 62, of New Palestine, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Methodist Hospital. He was born on August 31, 1953 in Greensburg, IN as the son of Otto V. Phelps and Ethel M. (Black) Dougherty. He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1971 and received his Associate's Degree in computer science from Ivy Tech Community College. Leslie married Rebecca "Becky" (Ross) on May 31, 1975 in Westport, IN.
He worked for EDS as a computer operator for many years before retiring. Leslie enjoyed watching sports and he loved animals. He loved spending time with his family and going to everyone's sporting events.
Leslie is survived by his wife, Becky Phelps of New Palestine; son, Ben (Anna) Phelps of Lebanon, IN, daughters, Kelly Phelps of McCordsville and Brooke (Abdoul) Foro of Indianapolis; mother, Ethel M. Dougherty of Westport, IN; brothers, Gary Phelps of Gatlinburg, TN, Chuck Dougherty of Westport, IN and Mike Dougherty of Novi, MI; sisters, Brenda Roe and Kim Phelps both of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Phelps.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., at the mortuary with viewing one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jeff Souders will be officiating.
