Mr. Eugene Carson Freeman, 79, of Autryville, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, January 8 at Stedman Baptist Church, 7750 Clinton Road, Stedman, with Dr. Philip Spears and Dr. Robert Phipps officiating. Interment will follow at T.J. Hall Cemetery in Autryville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 pm prior to the service.

Mr. Freeman was born September 25, 1936 in Cumberland County and is preceded in death by his parents, Walden and Winsie Loretta Bryant Freeman; and his wife, Viola Hall Freeman. He was an Army Veteran and worked as a Staking Engineer with South River Electric Company.

He is survived by one daughter, Anita Freeman Jones of Autryville (husband, David) and one son, Bobby Glenn Freeman of Raeford; three sisters, Dorothy Bullard (husband, Jerry) of Vander, Virginia Darden (husband, Bruce) of Vander and Judy Darden (husband, Edward) of Stedman; two brothers, W.K. Freeman (wife, Helen) of Stedman and Billy Freeman of Vander; five grandchildren, Karson Autry, Taylor Jones, Sterling McInvale, Daniel Byrd and Adam Byrd; three great grandchildren, Gatlin McInrale, Madison Byrd and Landon Byrd; numerous nieces and nephews.
