Artemas Lynell Arnwine was born on June 21, 1931 in Cuney, Texas. When he entered the Army, it needed military men as quickly as they could be trained. So, he enlisted in the United States Army and quickly became one of the most renowned sergeants major of his time. In his rise from private to sergeant major he served in a variety of NCO leadership positions and assignments.

On January 2, 2016, at the age of 84, God called him and he was summoned home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We believe our Lord said, come my son, you have served your country well and now it is time to rest because I have something else for you to do. He was buried with full military honors in the Rockhill Cemetery in Ranson, West Virginia.
