Gerald Brent Bliss, the eldest son of Elmer & Sadie Bliss, was born on June 23, 1924 in Great Falls, MT and passed away on November 12, 2015, at age 91. He is survived by his three children: Bren Jensen (Dan), Geri Sanders (John), and Scot Bliss, and by his 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother David (Virginia), numerous nieces and nephews, and was preceded in death by his brother Brent (Pat). Gerald was a 1942 graduate of Great Falls High School and attended Montana State University, but with WWII underway he joined the Army Air Corp, was accepted into Officer Training School, and began his career as an Air Force Officer. He served honorably as an Officer and Fighter Pilot and was a member of numerous squadrons, including the elite Night Fighter's Squadron flying the P-61 Black Widow. Gerald served in Japan during the Occupation, was stationed in Oslo, Norway with NATO, was deployed twice to Vietnam and flew over 500 combat missions. He was awarded numerous commendations and medals for courage and airmanship, including the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star. He also served as the Air Force Advisor to the Air National Guard in Great Falls. Lt. Colonel Bliss retired after 30 years service in 1974. Gerald loved hunting, fishing, music, dancing, travel, photography, great humor, Sun River Canyon, and fun with family and friends. He was a patriot and a conservative always.
