Helen O. Peterson, age 94, Clark, the widow of Pat Peterson, died peacefully in the Golden Living Center at Clark on Sunday morning, January 3, 2016. She had resided in the care center the past three years.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from 4-6 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue at the Church in Clark on Wednesday morning after 10AM.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 11AM in the St. Paul Lutheran at Clark with The Reverend Mindy Ehrke officiating. The organist will be Dorothy Fuller. Casketbearers will be Reg Nelson, Todd Peterson, Ron Peterson and Tom LaBrie. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.

She was born on February 2, 1921 at Webster, the daughter of Tom and Mattie (Frase) Czmowski. In 1929 she moved with her parents to a farm north of Garden City.

Helen attended Thorp School from the 4th grade, graduating in 1938. Following graduation she went to Klamath Falls, Oregon and attended and graduated from a business college there in 1940. She worked for two different companies in Oregon and returned to South Dakota in 1943.

On February 2, 1944 she was united in marriage to Floyd "Pat" Peterson at her parents' farm near Garden City. Their son Mick was born in 1949.

The couple lived on farms northeast and northwest of Clark until moving into Clark in 1976. She resided in the same home until moving into the City View Apartments in 1998.

Helen worked for Pedersen Chevrolet for 10 years and then for Citizens State Bank/Dacotah Bank for 18 years.

She was baptized and confirmed member in the Lutheran faith. She currently was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark where she sang in the choir for many years. Helen was also a member of the WELCA at St. Paul and participated in several other events at the Church including the lutefisk supper. She was a volunteer for 60's Plus and also volunteered at the Clark Care Center/

Some of her hobbies included traveling, playing cards, dancing and helping others whenever she could.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Pat, three sisters and a brother Bud.

Survivors include a son, Mick and wife Cheri of Hot Springs, Arkansas, a granddaughter, Megan (Joel) Williams and two great-grandchildren, Dawson and Avery.
