Professional Football Player. He was a tight end for nine seasons (1960 to 1968) in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints. An All-American at Notre Dame, he was drafted in the first round by San Francisco in 1960. Stickles' best year was 1961, when he had 43 receptions for 794 yards with 5 touchdowns. After retiring as a player, he was a broadcast commentator for the Raiders and NCAA football games. In a career 115 games, Stickles had 222 receptions for 3199 yards with 16 touchdowns.
