Rebecca Hill Dean, 80 of Alachua, passed away December 28, 2015 at ET York Haven Hospice Care Center. Mrs. Dean was a lifelong resident of Alachua County. She was born on September 20, 1935 to Lawson E. and Estelle Hill. Rebecca was a 1953 graduate of P.K. Yonge School and a 1957 graduate of The University of Florida. She was a member of the Covenant Church, Past President of Jr. Woman's Club, Quincey, Fl., Treasurer and Docent at the Dudley Farms Historic State Park, and founding member of the Gainesville Community Band and a member of the Board of Matheson Center. She retired as a secretary for the Alachua County School Board and also worked for Crime Prevention for twelve years after retiring from the School System.
She is survived by her children, Charles Edgar Dean III (Debbie) of Gainesville, FL., William Hill Dean of Gainesville, FL., a sister Edwina Hill Hope of Gainesville, FL., a granddaughter Rebecca Dean Thomas (Josh) of Lake Butler, FL., great grandchildren, Hagen Tyson Thomas and Hudson Dean Thomas of Lake Butler.
She was preceded in death by parents, a sister Jeanne Hill Streit and her husband, Dr. Charles Edgar Dean, Jr.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Milam Funeral Home Chapel and visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Milam Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
