Mearl Douglas, 79, of Keosauqua, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City and Fenton, Iowa, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at Van Buren Hospital in Keosauqua.

The body was cremated. There will be no services.

Mearl was born May 8, 1927, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Jasper and Mary Ruth (Chapman) Spivey. She was united in marriage to Arthur McCall in 1954 in Vinton, Iowa. Arthur died in 1973. She was then married to Loyd Douglas in 1986 in Sioux City. Loyd died in 2001.

She was a member of United Methodist Church in Fenton, Iowa. She enjoyed gardening and ceramics.

She is survived by her daughters, Elsa Douglas of Omaha and Denise McCall of Auxvasse, Mo.; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Ted Spivey of Tiffin, Iowa; and four sisters, Helen Pierce, Evelyn Price and Dorothy Miller, all of Iowa City, Iowa, and Lola Reynolds of Monrovia, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; a brother, Ken Spivey; and three sisters, Lena Krueger, Lucille Eisentrager and Margaret Kiel
