Pastor Benjamin Howard Green (85) and his wife Naomi Ruth (Craig) Green (83) were killed in a single car crash outside of Ellensburg, WA, Saturday, December 28, 2013. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Ben was preaching his final sermon in Leavenworth, WA, before retiring from the Seventh Day Adventist Ministry. Ben & Naomi were a retired evangelistic team for the Upper Columbia Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
Ben was born February 16, 1928 in Bartley, WV and raised in Johnstown, OH; the son of the late Fred and Pearl Green.
Naomi was the daughter of the late Emmitt Harley and Minnie (Clark) Craig, she was born June 26, 1930, in Columbus, OH.
Ben graduated in 1946 from Johnstown Monroe High School, received his BA in Theology from Emmanuel Missionary College and a Masters Degree from Andrew’s University in Berrien Springs, MI. After College while working for the Illinois Conference of the Seventh-day Adventists, he was a Pastor, teacher, evangelist and in Lincoln, Ill. a radio speaker for station WPRC.
The Green’s were married on March 27, 1948 at Greenup, KY and lived in Walla Walla, WA. They are survived by three daughters: Bonnie Werth, Gina (Brock) Mitchell and Bobbi Lynn (Dave) Miller and seven grandchildren; Rebecca, Emilie & Benjamin Miller, Zackary & Jessica Mitchell and Ashley & Lindsay Werth.
Ben is also survived by the following siblings: John (Terry) Green, Bev (Randy) Weekly, Rick (Marion) Green, Sandy (Rich) Moore, Pam Evener, Carol (John) Martin, Joyce Evener, Donna Green, Jean Searles, Norma Harper, Marie (Jim) Stewart, and Audrey Horn.
Ben and Naomi were preceded in death by their daughter, Benita Wright, Ben’s sisters Wanda Green and Helen Clark and Naomi’s sister, Geraldine Patterson.
Funeral services were held January 04, 2014 at the Village Seventh-day Adventist Church in College Place, WA. and burial was at Mount Hope Cemetery in Walla Walla, WA.
Memorial Service will be held on January 11, 2014 from 5pm to 7pm at the Alexandria Baptist Church in Alexandria, OH.
