Russell Warren Wells, 94, of Louisa, KY went to be with the Lord on Friday January 1, 2016 following a brief illness.
Russell was born Dec. 26, 1921 at Blaine, KY the son of the late Sam and Rachel Wheeler Wells. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two daughters Brenda and Bobbie Wells, a daughter-in-law Kay Wells, three brothers; Charles, Fred, and Homer; and two sisters Rebecca and Dixie.
Russell was a 1950 graduate of UK College of Agriculture, a retired office manager for the United States Department of Agriculture ASCS Louisa office. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Signal Corp during WWII. He also was a member of the American Legion, a Kentucky Colonel, and TRMC Senior Circle. Russell was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church Louisa and served as a Trustee.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Nora Howell Wells; a daughter Nancy Ellen Collins and husband Jerry of Springfield, GA; two sons, John Russell Wells and wife Lavada of Avon, IN and Robert Wayne Wells of Ashland, KY; a brother, Ben Wells of Blaine, KY; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday Jan. 5 at 10:00 am at the Wilson Funeral Home with Revs Chuck Price, Willie Gene Hayes, and Donnie Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the Yatesville Memorial Gardens Louisa, KY.
Friends may visit the family from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Monday Jan. 4 at Wilson Funeral Home.
The family would like to especially give thanks to his caregivers Jean Thompson and Debbie Hughes and also the staff of the Jordan Care Center here in Louisa.
Care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.
