Services were held Tuesday, January 29, at the Methodist Church at Van Meter with burial at the Booneville Cemetery.
Mr. McNair was born April 1, 1898, the son of Cleaburg and Jane Stump McNair, both Dallas County pioneer families. He was united in marriage to Jerena Kirscher, December 26, 1924, and they were the parents of two daughters.
Jerena passed away in 1945.
Gladys Scovel Deer and Homer were married February 3, 1948.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys, two daughters, Collene Patterson of Upton, Wyoming, and Ilene Kagarice, Winterset, Iowa; four step sons Norbert Deer, Mitchellville, Ia.; George, Marvin and Verner Deer, all of Des Moines, Ia.; five step-daughters, Anna Pink, Des Moines, Ia.; Agnes Gustafson, Kremmling, Colorado; Helen Ballard and Mildred Walters of New Virginia, Ia.; and Grace Reed of rural Van Meter, Ia.; Thirty four grandchildren and thirty three great grandchildren.
