Bruce D. Waters, 61, of Marion, died Saturday, January 2, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Bruce was born December 21, 1954, the son of Irving (Clyde) and Dixie (Mullin) Waters in Cedar Rapids. He attended Marion High School where he wrestled and played football, graduating in 1973.

He also played softball for the OK Lounge where they won the state Slow Pitch Softball title in 1982. Bruce loved sports.

Bruce owned and operated A-1 Insulation in Marion since 1998, which was established by his father in 1972.

Bruce enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas. Over the past 26 years, he took many friends and family fishing to Canada, where he made many special friends including Kelly and Trina Wilson of Nestor Falls.

His family and friends would also like to thank his employees, John Hackert and Shane Graham, who have been with him during the good times and the past five challenging years.

Bruce was a man who would do anything for his friends. He had a kind heart and considerate soul. All those who knew him loved and cherished him. We will miss him dearly.

Left to remember him are his sisters, Marlene Weber and Karen Waters, both of Anamosa; nephews, Hollis (Natalie) Weber and their two sons, Calvin and Lynden of Mt. Vernon and Miles (Ida) Weber of Martelle; his special Aunt and Uncle, Keith and Barb Rowley of Fayette; his special friend, Kathy Rhodes; and many special cousins, friends, neighbors, and step-dogs who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kenny Waters; and his grandparents.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2016, also at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion, Iowa.

We would like to thank all of his caregivers over the past five years, The Ghosh Center, Dr. Keating and Unity Point Hospice. A very special thank-you to Dr. James Bell, and the wonderful nurses and techs that made Bruce’s last days comfortable. We don’t know what we would have done without them.

A special thank-you to Larry, Julie (Ma) Sankey, Jan Coonrod, Julie Rhodes and Alvin and Mony Moeller for all the years of love and friendship to Bruce.
