Roy Raymond Wood, age 81, of Knoxville, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He proudly served one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam and retired from the U.S. Army with 21 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lona Ramsey Wood; brothers, Clarance and Tommy; sisters, Doris, Bobby, Pearl, Vivian, and Mary. He is survived by Barbara Jean Simpson; brothers, David Wood and Jimmy Bowerman; daughters, Starr and Tony Oldham, Teresa and David Everett; special grandchildren, Sky, Ashley, Shannon, and Roger; special nephew, Josh; special friends, Richard, Sharon, Courtney, and Liz. The family wishes to extended and special thanks to Amedisys Hospice and Jennifer for their love and care for Roy.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at New Grey Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service with Full Military Honors conducted by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.
