He met his life partner Doris Giardina on the 1960’s and became the father figure to Doris’s Sons: Greg and Tim. Subsequently, he became the grandfather to Nick, Vinnie, Paul, Luke, Michael and Nicole. Doris preceded Mate in death in 2014 and was deeply missed by Mate.
His Love of the outdoors and fishing stayed with him all his life. He built a successful business, DGRV in Caldwell, which later allowed him and Doris to travel and enjoy life. His son took over the business in 1997. A longtime member of the Elks Club, He enjoyed many years of fellowship, His RV career led to active participation in the local Good Sam Club where he and Doris enjoyed many outings.
He was politically active conservative for many causes, winning the 1995 National Legislative Award from the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association. Later his efforts were directed towards local causes.
He will be remembered and missed by many people as well as his family. The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation is made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, The Salvation Army or the VFW.
