Mrs. Rebecca Sue Balchin Bailey, 84, of Dr. George Ward Road, wife of 58 years to the late Joel Hubert "Pete" Bailey, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Bailey was born in Elbert County on February 17, 1931, to the late Claude Dalton Balchin and Mattie Elizabeth Chandler Balchin, and was a graduate of Nancy Hart High School. She was a retired seamstress having worked for Elberton Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Eliam United Methodist Church where she was in the Adult Sunday School Class and WMU, and a member of the Elberton VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Sue loved sewing, cooking, flowers, and talking on the phone.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters and their husbands: Teresa and Jack Dye and Lisa and Mitch Ruff, all of Elberton; sister, Martha Miner of Abbeville, SC; grandchildren: Clif and Melanie Dye, Clint Dye, Clay Dye and Kristen Smith, Jessica Sharp, and Garrett Ruff; great-grandchildren: Brock Dye, Rylan Sharp, and Mackenzie Dye; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings: T.O., J.E., Charles, Jack, and Pope Balchin, Louise Anderson, and Claudine Balchin.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, January 2, at 11 o'clock in the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Emily Case officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 5 o'clock until 7 o'clock on Friday evening.
