Stella May Chitwood

Stella May (Donaldson) Chitwood, daughter of Oscar and Ollie (Colyott) Donaldson, was born May 7, 1926 at Midridge, MO. She died At Brent B. Tinnin Manor in Ellington, MO, on November 8, 2013 at the age of 87 years and six months.

Stella was united in marriage to John Henry Chitwood on March 8, 1948, eloping to Jonesboro, Illinois. John and Stella were both baptized during the summer of 1948 and joined Sweetwater United Baptist Church. They remained members of the United Baptist Association until their deaths.

Stella's lifelong passions were gardening and quilting and spending time with her family. She always enjoyed helping on the family farm, especially haying seasons. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Lula Faye Ferguson; one grandson, Randall Leon Hampton; one great-grandson, Justin Alexander Parker; four brothers, Lewis, Frank, Cecil, and Edward Donaldson; and three sisters, Lora Bunch, Cora Bunch and Ethel Bunch.

She is survived by: sons, John E. (Linda) Chitwood, Frank Chitwood (Erma), daughters, Carole (Leon) Hampton, Janet (Jon) Hartwein, and Stephanie Chitwood; one sister, Anna Wedemeier, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.



Visitation: Sunday, November 10th 5 to 8 PM Funeral Services: Monday, November 11th at 11 AM at McSpadden Funeral Home, Ellington, Missouri Minister:

Pallbearers: Dewane Watson, Phillip Watson, Travis Chitwood, Lance Chitwood, John Chitwood, Frank Chitwood and Chris Wells.
