He is survived by son Ross "Allen" daughter Christina Cheyenne, "Paw Paw" to 6 adored grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, sisters Barbara Powell & Jane Blatzer & one who knew every corner of his heart, his most trusted, forever & devoted friend Sarah Holt. He was also pre-deceased by his brother Robert Earl "Bobby" Powell, beloved maternal Grandfather & Grandmother King & many special aunts, uncles & cousins.
He attended Godby High School & Inspiring those around him, fulfilling an important personal goal, received his GED in Yazoo City, MS w/in the DOC with exceptionally high scores. He learned a strong work ethic at a very young age. Among many talents he was proud to be a "skilled" carpenter & wanted his obituary to say that "He was the best carpenter on Hwy 20". Being a "New Year's Baby" he was a "1st" of many things too numerous to mention & had such a large & unique personality leaving many memories to cherish.
Always willing to lend a helping hand, he loved working, music, news, westerns, beer, laughing & joking & having a good time & loved & trusted in the Lord & Bible. He was strong both mentally & physically, smart, interesting, funny & funny just being himself. "Trodding along" putting one foot in front of the other, no matter how hard, struggling w/his "End of life purpose" he left much to be admired & was such an inspiration.
He had no hate for anyone as his faith & comfort in the Lord was very strong. He trusted & loved his Hospice family both Leon & Wakulla for over 4 yrs more than words can express. Much Gratitude & thanks for their care, Compassion, "Hurdles" friendship & support. After his "Compassionate Release" in Tallahassee, FL. looking & feeling healthier than ever, he quickly declined losing his last battle.
He passed away in TX, was cremated at "Rosewood" crematorium, requested no memorial services & wanted his remains to be by his favorite dog "Raceway" in Woodville, FL." End of life wishes" were denied. Anyone wishing to honor his memory please donate blood or to "Big Bend Hospice" or read the bible. His last advice given to a Special Friend
