He was the son of Adrian and Anna House Lewis. In 1903 he married Julia Lucey.
Mr. Lewis worked as an assistant superintendent at the Herkimer County Home for 17 years. Before that he had farmed as a young man.
Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Eugene King, Clinton; two sons, Raymond Lewis, Mohawk; Gerald E. Lewis, Truckee, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Caroline Pfieffer, Massachusetts; two half brothers, Bert Pooler, Amsterdam and Ben Pooler, Herkimer; three grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
