Eleanor graduated high school at Ridley Township HS, PA, attended Marymount International School, Rome, she studied Art at the University of Bern, Switzerland and attended the UNM Continuing Education program.

Her life time residences included Chester, PA, Lake Charles, LA, Houston, TX, Paris, France, Rome, Italy, Fairfield, CA, Ocean City, NJ, Bad Wörishofen, Germany, Chester, PA, Levittown PA, Honolulu, HI, Rhein Main Air Base Germany and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Eleanor enjoyed traveling, bowling, poker, bridge, painting and was a active member of the Albuquerque Dance Club.
Eleanor is survived by brother, Neal and sister-in-law, Carol Emper, her nieces, Tracy and Nicole, son, Darrell Lombard and his wife, Beatrice, daughter, Kathryn Lombard-Thomas and her husband, Leon and daughter, Cheryl Thorpe and her husband, John, grandchildren, Russell and his wife, Sara Lombard, Adam and Sam Thorpe, Rachel Luján, step-granddaughter and great-granddaughter, Stella Grace Lombard.
Eleanor inspired so many of us in her love of family and her tremendous enthusiasm for life. Into her 80s she continued dancing, playing cards, and was always the last to leave a family gathering, event or party. Eleanor lived on her own terms, gave love unconditionally to those in her circle. Eleanor had an open door for close friends and made them feel at home. Had the devastation of ALS not taken our ever smiling Eleanor, she would have lived to 100 or more and danced till the end.
Peace, dear Eleanor.
Service and reception will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at French – Lomas, Albuquerque, NM. Private service to be held at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM to rest alongside her husband, Evan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Mexico Community Of Hope: Memory of Eleanor Marcella Lombard - The ALS Association: http://webnm.alsa.org/goto/MemorialEleanor.
