Son of Leo and Anna (Meier) Simon. Visionary publishing giant -- with Max Schuster, co-founder of Simon & Schuster, their first publication being a 1924 crossword puzzle compilation book with a pencil attached. Mr. Simon was known for nurturing up-and-coming writers and for introducing the "Little Golden Books" that became cherished staple kiddie lit of generations of American children. Educated at Columbia University, he was also a highly regarded classical pianist, and amateur photographer. Father of opera singer Joanna Simon, Broadway composer and folk singer Lucy Simon, rock-pop singer-songwriter Carly Simon, and photographer Peter Simon. Husband of Andrea Heinemann Simon. Brother of Alfred, Henry and George Simon, and Elizabeth Simon Seligmann.
