Jay Brent Heusser, 57, passed away Dec. 29, 2015, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Preston, ID, on April 23, 1958, to Glade and Eva Forrest Heusser. He was the first of four children. He grew up in Fairview and graduated from Preston High School in 1976. He married Lori Jeanne Eyre on Dec. 8, 1978, and together they had five children. They were later divorced.He loved everything to do with sporting activities. He coached every team his kids were on from flag football and Little League all the way up to high school summer ball camps. He always had a Suburban full of kids and sporting equipment. He was an assistant basketball coach at West Side High School for many years where he made lifelong friends. When he wasn't coaching, he was officiating ball games.He loved being outdoors and was an avid hunter in his younger years. He loved four-wheeling, riding his Harley and shooting the bull with friends. He was a member of the Preston Elks Club.He worked for the Idaho Department of Corrections, working his way up to a lieutenant at the Idaho State Prison in Boise and then was a Probation and Parole officer in Preston for many years. At the time of his passing he was a dealer for Cattleman's Choice Loomix. He was the Mayor of Preston from 1996-2004 and served as a Preston City Councilman from 1992-96. He loved serving the people of Preston.Recently he fell in love with his role as Grandpa. His grandkids (Brayker, Dylin, Jaylynn, Ace and Mya) were his pride and joy, and he tried to spend as much time as he could with them. He loved them more than anything and they will miss him dearly!He is survived by his family; Lori, children; Ben (Kaylyn), Jen (Rusty), Amanda, Bryan, and Kyle (Meghann). He is also survived by his brothers; Randy, Scott (Lisa), Troy and a step-father, Larry Telford. He is preceded in death by his parents, Glade Heusser and Eva Telford. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at noon at the Fairview LDS Church, 165 W. 4800 South, Preston, ID. A viewing will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home and also 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Fairview LDS Church. A private graveside memorial will be held at a future date.
