Anna Mae Dissinger Dennis, 92, resided in Middletown with her daughter, Paula, and previously of Hershey, transitioned to her heavenly home on December 30, 2015, with her loving family by her side.

Born in Lebanon on May 12, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Esther J. Dissinger Caley. She graduated from John Harris High School where she was a majorette. She then continued her education at Central Penn Business School, receiving a degree in business administration. She married Paul W. Dennis in 1942 at Camp Shelby, MS. Anna Mae delivered twin daughters while Paul was overseas, Janice Lee and Judith Anne. She inspected artillery shells in Steelton during World War II. She retired from Bell Telephone where she received a commendation for saving a life.

Anna was a PCA at Hershey Medical Center and went on to become an LPN later in life; working also at Harrisburg Hospital and Country Meadows, Hershey. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and recently attended Sherk’s Church Meeting House. Anna was an avid member of the Paxtang Promenaders Square Dancing Club. She loved spending time with her family, crocheting and knitting.

In addition to her mother, Anna was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judith Anne; her sister, June Moore; her grandson, Mike Hostetter; and her nephew, Steve Moore.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice L. Dissinger widow of Darwin of Newport, and Paula K. Hostetter wife of Walter S. Sr. of Middletown; 5 grandchildren, Jeff Allamon husband of Marilyn, Deb Huntzberger wife of Ed, Andrew Allamon, Walter Hostetter, Jr., and Randy Hostetter husband of Nanette; a granddaughter-in-law, Barb Hostetter widow of Mike; 17 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren, with two more soon to be born; a niece, Katie Moore; and many other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 4, 2016, at 1 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Allen F. Helwig, officiating. Interment will be in the Kochenderfer Cemetery, Lebanon. Friends are invited to a viewing in the funeral home on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM and again on Monday from 12 Noon until time of the services.
