Raymond Willis Ivey, born July 21, 1925, in Graceville, Florida, went to be with the Lord on December 30, 2015 at the age of 90 years. Ray had lived in Pensacola for 60 years and called it home, still living in the same house that he brought his children home from the hospital to.

He graduated from Graceville High School and entered the U.S. Army to serve during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He returned and attended business college in Dothan, Al, eventually moving to Pensacola to work at the Pensacola Naval Air Station in the Federal Civil Service. He served in the Naval Aviation Schools Command and retired as a Supervisory Program Analyst in 1984 after 35 years of service. Ray was an avid golfer with 3 holes in 1, serving many years in the NASC golf tournament. He was an active member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church for 57 years.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife Nell Mims Ivey of 61 years. They have two daughters, Melinda Laswell (Bill) and Mona Hoyle (Gary), four grandchildren, Sheri DiGiacinto, Wendy DiGiacinto, Kate DiGiacinto and Christine Schutte and five great-grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband and adored father.

He was preceded in death by his parents Minnie Williams Ivey and Willis Ivey, two brothers Carl Ivey and Clegg Ivey, and four sisters Theatrice Parish, Opal McAliley, Billie Jo Adams, and Oletha Hunt. He is survived by two brothers Charles Ivey and Dick Ivey, and two sisters Mollie Knight and Martha McKnight.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.

Visitation was Monday, January 4th at 1:00 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with the funeral following at 2:00. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 5th at 12:30.
